Part of Menokin’s long term vision is to provide a path in support of architectural trades and preservation. This season of Menokin’s Elements series focuses on the intersection of the built environment with its community.
On June 15, 2022 at 12pm EDT, Element’s 2022 Webinar Series Presents Regenerative Agriculture Community with Sophie Haas of Sioly World and Belle Grove Plantation.
This presentation will introduce the community to restorative practices which preserve rural communities in ways that protect historic farming traditions to benefit contemporary communities and can also provide a viable attraction for agri-tourism.
Meet our Guests:
Sophie Haas of Sioly World and Belle Grove Plantation
Sophie believes humans have the responsibility to regenerate our landscapes and adapt more holistic approaches to live, work, and play, while taking into account the needs of nature and its surrounding community.
"Provide for nature so she can continue to provide for us".
That’s why, Sophie focuses on real estate projects with regenerative aspects - regenerative for the mind and body as well as regenerative for our nature - spanning from farm projects, education centers, retreats, to industrial projects in Austria, Portugal, and the US. Sophie was introduced to the regenerative world through taking the regenerative development course at the Regenesis Institute, based in California, with which she has now been involved with for over 3 years. She took on her first project in regenerative agriculture in Mertola, Portugal, where she supported the local region with her finance and investment skills, and also volunteered working on the farm.
Below is more information about this community-led initiative. One of Sophie’s current projects is her family’s property in King George County, the renowned historic Belle Grove farm, where James Madison was born. In parallel, Sophie also bought a farm in Austria where she is building an education center for regenerative agriculture and development. Together with her brother, she is leading a community garden project to connect people through food and nature.
Sophie started her real estate career at Jones Lang LaSalle (a global real estate advisory firm) where she consulted major corporations such as P&G on their real estate strategies. After completing her MBA at Columbia University focusing on Real Estate & Finance and before transitioning into the regenerative world, she worked for CIM Group, a Los Angeles based real estate private equity firm developing, acquiring, and managing a $30B real estate portfolio, where she focused on acquisitions and investments.
