DETAILS AND RULES:
THEME: Fairy House Design
CASH PRIZES: Will be awarded for Most Magical: $125; Most Sustainable $125; Most Historical $125. Awards will be announced at noon, Saturday June 22nd at Menokin Makers Day.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: There is a one time non-refundable application fee of $25 per fairy house due by June 1, 2024. Only one house may be entered per person/team.
INSTALLATION RULES:
Houses MUST have a marker with your name AND number on it (painted on a brick). Check in at the Visitor Center to receive your brick and number.
All houses must be placed near the edge of the trail so that we don’t trample the surrounding natural area. Remember the setting is in a wildlife refuge. Please be mindful of the materials you use.
You can build a house with a friend or team or by yourself. Anyone can enter—there is no age limit!
Houses must be on the trail by Saturday, June 8th at noon. Once your registration is confirmed, you are welcome to place your house on the trail anytime from Saturday May 25th through Saturday June 8th before noon.
All fairy houses will be left on the Fairy Trails after the competition for people in the community to enjoy until October 12th! (Please note, fairy houses may be cleaned up / picked up if they break down over time due to weather and seasonal changes.) Your house will be outdoors for four months, Mother Nature may have an impact on your construction.
If you would like to create a fairy house as part of the competition, please register at the link below. If you’d prefer not to be part of the competition, we’d still love for you to visit and tell us about your favorites!
